We advance the needs of Tegaru women in Tigray and across the diaspora through advocacy, social, health, cultural and educational initiatives.
Who We Are
Tegaru Women for Tigray was started by a group of Tegaru Women from the diaspora who came together to discuss the disproportionate impact this war is having on women and girls. It brought back painful memories of when we were displaced because of Ethiopia’s Derg regime that committed mass executions, imprisonment, torture, a catastrophic famine in Tigray. We exchanged ideas of how we could contribute our skills and resources to support a post war Tigray that can improve women and girls, educational, economic and health outcomes.
Our Vision
Tegaru Women for Tigray is committed to amplifying the plight of women and girls in Tigray, the prevention and elimination of all forms of violence against women and girls. We are dedicated to promoting, protecting and enhancing the rights and wellbeing of women and girls in Tigray through advocacy, cultural, economic, educational, social and health initiatives.
